Documenting Your Life: A Photographer’s Notes From the Field
Thank you for your interest. Registration for this workshop is now closed.
A good photograph makes the viewer stop, look again, and see something ordinary from a whole new perspective. It’s this impact that makes photojournalism so successful. An image can convey a story 1,000 words couldn’t—and what’s more, an image can transform its viewer.
“Documenting Your Life: A Photographer’s Notes From The Field,” is the first in a series of affordable creative workshops presented by Sad Mag. Created with the absolute beginner in mind, “Documenting Your Life” is a photography workshop led by Grant Harder that is designed to kick-start students, hobbyists, and aspiring professionals with advice from a working photographer.
Saturday, July 9
The Waldorf
1489 East Hastings Street (at Clark)
Vancouver, BC
12:00 — 3:00 p.m.
The three-hour workshop will teach participants how to think and shoot like a photographer. Participants will learn:
- What to think about when deciding how and what to shoot
- How to train your eye and trust your instincts
- What equipment you do—and don’t—really need
- How to promote your work and get that first job
Bring your camera for a hands-on, guided photo excursion in the surrounding neighbourhood. Point and shoot cameras are fine—no “professional” equipment necessary.
