Whale in the Door: Fold for the Orcas

  • Vancouver Public Library 350 West Georgia Street Vancouver, BC, V6B 6B3 Canada (map)

As of today, 75 killer whales remain the Pacific Ocean. Would you consider joining me in writing 75 letters, folded in the shape of an orca, so that we may send it to the new Minister of Fisheries, Oceans, and the Canadian Coast Guard? Don't worry, we'll provide the paper, writing prompts, and the volunteers to help you fold your orca. Your message can be short, long, and can reference recent news and other articles. Come to the Vancouver Public Library (350 W. Georgia St) Alice McKay Room on Saturday, August 11, anytime from 2 - 4 PM.

During this time, we'll also have live music, poetry, storytelling by Pauline Le Bel, singer and author of "Whale in the Door" and Squamish Nation storyteller Rebecca Campbell Duncan/Tsitsayxemaat perform, and contributors to the poetry collection "Refugium", among other fine performances.
