Vines Artist Care Fundraiser May 11: Support the Artist Survival and Healing Fund

Artist Care Fundraiser | Thurs May 11 | 6:30pm | Heritage Hall: 3102 Main Street | Tickets: here

Vines Art Festival is proud to be putting on our Artist Care Fundraiser on May 11. Come together with us for a night of delicious food, an enticing silent auction, and featuring live performances from Kimmortal (@Kimmortaltheartist), Missy D (@MissyDmusic), ebonEmpress (@ebonEmpress), and Jreme (@Jreme.y).

All proceeds from the night will go to the Vines Artist Care & Healing fund, this fund directly supports the artistic communities that need it most. Tickets are priced on a sliding scale, and attendance is not mandatory to make a donation.

These funds are life-affirming and sometimes life-saving support. This fund allows artists to move through times of trauma with more dignity and hope. I believe that providing these time-sensitive funds is one of the most vital things Vines does for our community and the arts sector. Your donations truly make an impact. The fund has provided:

  • Artists traveling to loved ones funerals

  • Artists traveling to home communities for ceremonies

  • Rent support to avoid eviction

  • Access to heat, electricity or phone plans

  • Purchase of laptops and other creative tools which allow artists to bring in income

  • Counseling, physio or medical bills following traumatic incidents

Fundraiser Information

Vines Art Festival is an organization and festival that is responsive to and nurturing of artists that are working toward land, water and relational justice. Vines brings imagination to everyday spaces by presenting performances, installations and workshops for free across parks on the unceded territories of xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), and Sel̓íl̓witulh (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations.

On May 11th, 2023, Vines Art Festival will be hosting a Fundraiser at Heritage Hall to continue supporting, nurturing and advocating for artists within our community. Our goal is to reach $40,000 for The Artist Survival & Healing Fund by July 15, 2023. Your donations will ensure we are able to provide critical support for artists in need. All donations are eligible for a tax receipt.

Vines goes beyond solely delivering the community unique, powerful and immersive performances that are accessible to all residents of the city. It supports, nurtures and advocates for artists as well.

The Artist Survival & Healing Fund will provide opportunities to give artists holistic support without the bureaucratic processes that hinder the relationship with not only the artist, but the community as a whole. Funds raised will be allocated for a variety of reasons; healing and wellness practices, culturally relevant training, accessing supplies and tools, time sensitive emergencies. Vines Artist Survival and Healing Fund is visioned and held by Black, Indigenous and folks of colour. Artists who are migrants, houseless, queer, trans and disabled.

Art is a story; and we were fortunate enough to bear witness to hundreds of them at Vines Art Festival. We are prioritizing the lived experiences of QTBIPOC and Disabled artists and fostering honest ongoing relationships and conversations amongst each other. We are creating a community ecosystem that creates and heals in our own parks. Supporting the Vines Artist Survival & Healing fund means championing the vision of a brighter future with more of us in it.
