Volunteer Opportunity: Social Media Coordinator

SAD Magazine is looking for a Social Media Coordinator to manage and grow SAD Magazine’s online presence across Instagram (11k+ followers), Twitter/X, LinkedIn, and Facebook. This role includes posting, community engagement, and content creation (including video editing). The coordinator works closely with SAD’s marketing, web, events, and design teams to ensure content is consistent, timely, and engaging.

What you’ll do:

  • Plan, schedule, and post a minimum of 2+ times per week across Instagram, Twitter/X, Facebook, and LinkedIn.

  • Create and edit engaging content (including video)

  • Liaise with the web team to share new articles, interviews, and digital features.

  • Collaborate with graphic designers to develop visuals, stories, and promotional assets.

  • Work with the events team to promote launches, workshops, and community events.

  • Act as the primary contact on SAD’s social platforms:

    • Respond to DMs and comments within 72 hours.

    • Correspond with other arts magazines, art accounts, and local artists to promote content and request assets.

    • Build relationships with cultural partners and community collaborators through social media.

  • Monitor analytics across platforms and share insights with the team.

  • Maintain SAD’s visual identity and voice, ensuring inclusivity and accessibility in all posts.

You’re a fit if you have:

  • Strong communication skills and a feel for online voice, tone, and storytelling.

  • Some experience creating content for social media (personal projects, school clubs, volunteer groups, small organizations, etc. all count).

  • Comfort with basic video editing.

  • Familiarity with Canva or similar tools is an asset.

  • Organized, responsive, and excited to collaborate with a creative team.

  • Passion for Vancouver’s arts and culture community, and for supporting emerging artists and creatives.

Time Commitment:

  • Approx. 3–6 hours per week.

Volunteer Opportunity: Grant writer

SAD Magazine is looking for an organized, detail-loving and art-appreciating human to join our team as a Volunteer Grant Writer. In this role, you'll identify and apply for grants that support our mission of uplifting local, emerging creatives.

We're looking for someone who knows the arts and nonprofit grant world, can tell a compelling story and can quickly organize grant details to find the best fit and meet all requirements and deadlines.

This is a 6-month volunteer position (with the possibility of extension) that requires a time commitment of approximately 3–6 hours per week, depending on grant deadlines. You’ll have the support of our editor-in-chief and other team members throughout the process.

What you’ll do:

  • Research, identify and evaluate grant opportunities that align with SAD Magazine’s values, voice and work.

  • Write, edit and submit compelling grant proposals while collaborating with our team to gather necessary information and documentation. 

  • Track submissions, follow-ups and wins (!!!) in a tidy and transparent way.

  • Keep the team in the loop with short updates on progress and potential opportunities.

You’re a fit if you have:

  • Have experience writing successful grants — bonus points if it’s for nonprofits, arts orgs or publishing.

  • Know your way around Canadian grant funding, especially in Vancouver’s arts/media space.

  • Excellent written communication skills and ability to explain ideas clearly and persuasively.

  • Self-motivated, organized, and able to meet deadlines independently.

Volunteer Opportunity: Sales and Distribution Coordinator

We’re looking for a SAD Coordinator to manage and grow our stockist network and partnerships. This role is perfect for someone who loves relationship-building, stays organized, and gets energized by supporting others. You’ll ensure our stockists — wherever they are — feel seen, stocked, and excited to be part of SAD. This is a fixed 6 month position with potential to continue on. 

From marketing campaigns to inventory check-ins, launch party collabs to creative partnerships — you’ll help make sure every touchpoint is thoughtful and aligned. You’ll also field new stockist partner opportunities and help turn them into something meaningful and mutually beneficial.

What You’ll Do:

Stockist & Donor Relationship Management

  •  Act as the main point of contact for all SAD stockists worldwide

  • Ensure they are stocked, supported, and fully informed ahead of each launch

  • Provide all necessary assets, tools, and information to help stockists succeed

  •  Encourage participation in brand campaigns, donor initiatives, launch events, and collaborations

  •  Track performance and revenue generated by each stockist

  •  Maintain consistent communication through email, updates, and check-ins

Stockist and Donor Growth & Onboarding

  • Create and maintain a compelling pitch kit to bring in aligned, values-driven stockists

  • Proactively seek out and onboard new stockists and donors across various regions

  • Equip the internal SAD team with resources to help identify leads and pass them along

  • Ensure new stockists and donors have a seamless, on-brand onboarding experience

Marketing & Campaign Coordination

  • Write creative, clear briefs for marketing assets tied to launches and partnerships

  • Work closely with the design team to ensure graphics are delivered and aligned with our brand

  • Distribute campaign toolkits across the stockist network

  • Coordinate retail collaborations, co-branded promotions, and other stockist-led campaigns

Partnership Fielding & Execution

  • Coordinate the execution of inbound partnerships from ad purchases to community partner collabs.

  • Execute partnership agreements in collaboration with leadership 

  • Support Director of Partnerships with special projects and ad partner communications, ensuring timely and accurate delivery of all assets and partner needs

  • Have 2–4 years of experience in partnerships, retail ops, marketing, or account/client management
