Volunteer Opportunity: SAD Events Coordinator
/Help bring the magic to life at SAD Mag events!
SAD Magazine is looking for an organized, detail-loving human to help us plan and pull off our signature events. As our SAD Events Coordinator, you’ll work alongside our Events & Engagement Manager to support the execution of everything from launch parties and workshops to community pop-ups and beyond.
This is a 6 month volunteer position (with the possibility of extension) that requires a time commitment of approximately 3–6 hours per week. Hours may increase slightly during the lead-up to major events like our bi-annual magazine launches. You’ll be reporting to the Events & Engagement Manager and working closely with other volunteer coordinators to ensure the SAD event calendar runs smoothly and joyfully.
This is a great role for someone looking to build experience in planning events, community programming, and behind-the-scenes magic-making.
What you’ll do:
Help plan, organize, and execute SAD events - virtual and in-person
Coordinate event logistics like timelines, checklists, RSVPs, and supplies
Communicate with performers, hosts, vendors, and volunteers to make sure everyone’s in the loop
Assist with event promotion - think writing blurbs, updating calendars, and supporting social content
Support on event days with setup and teardown, guest check-in, tech, and ensuring events run smoothly
Gather post-event feedback and help us dream up how to make the next one even better
Collaborate with our SADvocate Volunteer Coordinator to keep programming cohesive and community-focused
You’re a great fit if you:
Love a good to-do list and thrive on staying organized
Are a clear, proactive communicator who isn’t afraid to send that follow-up email
Get excited about creating events that are inclusive, welcoming, and fun
Have some experience with event planning or coordination (can be formal or informal!)
Are comfortable with occasional physical tasks, like lifting boxes or event supplies (up to 20 lbs)
Are reliable, team-minded, and not afraid to roll up your sleeves day-of
Have a valid BC driver’s license and are down to do the occasional supply run or venue visit (big plus, but not required)
What’s in it for you:
Real experience in arts event coordination, programming, and production
A behind-the-scenes look at how SAD Mag events come together
A chance to shape how we show up in the arts community and create memorable experiences
The joy of working with a creative, kind, and slightly chaotic team of humans
A glowing reference from SAD Magazine
