SAD Magazine is looking for a Social Media Coordinator to manage and grow SAD Magazine’s online presence across Instagram (11k+ followers), Twitter/X, LinkedIn, and Facebook. This role includes posting, community engagement, and content creation (including video editing). The coordinator works closely with SAD’s marketing, web, events, and design teams to ensure content is consistent, timely, and engaging.

What you’ll do:

  • Plan, schedule, and post a minimum of 2+ times per week across Instagram, Twitter/X, Facebook, and LinkedIn.

  • Create and edit engaging content (including video)

  • Liaise with the web team to share new articles, interviews, and digital features.

  • Collaborate with graphic designers to develop visuals, stories, and promotional assets.

  • Work with the events team to promote launches, workshops, and community events.

  • Act as the primary contact on SAD’s social platforms:

    • Respond to DMs and comments within 72 hours.

    • Correspond with other arts magazines, art accounts, and local artists to promote content and request assets.

    • Build relationships with cultural partners and community collaborators through social media.

  • Monitor analytics across platforms and share insights with the team.

  • Maintain SAD’s visual identity and voice, ensuring inclusivity and accessibility in all posts.

You’re a fit if you have:

  • Strong communication skills and a feel for online voice, tone, and storytelling.

  • Some experience creating content for social media (personal projects, school clubs, volunteer groups, small organizations, etc. all count).

  • Comfort with basic video editing.

  • Familiarity with Canva or similar tools is an asset.

  • Organized, responsive, and excited to collaborate with a creative team.

  • Passion for Vancouver’s arts and culture community, and for supporting emerging artists and creatives.

(We encourage applications from candidates with different levels of experience — if you’ve managed social media in any capacity and are excited to grow your skills, we want to hear from you!)

Time Commitment:

  • Approx. 3–6 hours per week.

  • Flexible schedule, with occasional evening/weekend commitments around events.

What’s in it for you:

  • Hands-on experience running social media accounts with thousands of followers.

  • Build your portfolio with professional experience in video editing, digital strategy, and arts communications.

  • A formal reference letter after 6 months of volunteering.

  • Networking opportunities with Vancouver’s arts community, magazines, artists, and cultural partners.

  • The chance to directly shape how SAD’s stories, events, and voices reach thousands of people.
