Cosmic Forecast April 2024

Dear SAD Mag Readers, This is my final Cosmic Forecast. It has been my pleasure and honour to share these Forecasts with the SAD Mag community for the last three years. It’s meant so much to me to share my love of astrology with you. If you’ve enjoyed these Forecasts and would like to keep up with my writing and future cosmic projects, you can sign up for updates here. I would love to keep in touch!

After the deep mists of March, April’s astrology brings some crisp rays of sunlight to illuminate some of the dark corners we’ve been exploring. But the new brightness can also feel like too much, the heat too intense. When the Sun is in Aries, there can be a sense of urgency, a desire to rush—a feeling that all the underground work we’re doing inside of ourselves, in our relationships, or in our spiritual lives isn’t enough because we don’t have anything to physically show for it. Aries sometimes prefers tangible results, or even better, public recognition. Aries likes to make dreams come true, but that energy can ask us to push past our physical and emotional limits on our way to the finish line.

The Sun, Mercury, and Venus all transit Aries through April. Venus–the planet that helps us listen to and attend to our body–and Mercury–which is associated with the nervous system–are influenced by Aries’ drive and desire to succeed. On the positive side, Venus and Mercury in Aries create an energetic space where we have the energy and inspiration we need to take action on what’s most meaningful for us. But it’s also a space where we’re invited to consider the relationship between our goals and our physical and psychological needs. On the road to reaching your dreams, you still need to take care of yourself. If you experience friction between going after what you want this month and making sure you’re resting, bathing, eating right, and relaxing, it’s important to pay attention to that experience and listen to yourself.

The Sun in Aries is like spring sunshine for the soul. Sunlight tells the seeds and bulbs buried in the ground to sprout–, it coaxes the red buds from the trees. Likewise, the Sun in Aries shines on your inner landscape, helping the things that are most important to you bloom into consciousness. This might be a month of realising what you truly desire, uncovering hidden hopes, and unearthing new possibilities. Pay attention to the opportunities and conversations you’re having, look for signs from the universe. The things you are meant to prioritise will rise up organically from within you.

There are several impactful conjunctions—that is, planets overlapping each other in the sky—happening this month. The first is a conjunction between Venus and Neptune in Pisces on April 3rd. This moment in the month might feel like a final emotional dive into the deep end of our hearts: our dreams might be filled with past loves and current longings. It’s a potent time for reconciling with your sense of romanticism and emotional sensitivity. Let your needs and desires be as deep as they want to be and accept the demands your heart places on your relationships. When you can see this part of yourself clearly, you can ask for what you truly want from others and you can heal the places in you that need your attention more than anyone else’s.

Then, Mars and Saturn in Pisces come into conjunction on the 10th. The mixed energy of Mars and Saturn is about endurance and persistence. In Pisces, this energy plays out in the spirit and psyche. In essence, the conjunction reminds us that we are spiritual beings having a human experience. It highlights the validity and beauty of simply experiencing a rich inner life or a meaningful spiritual practice. Friction might happen around this transit if you’re entangled with things that don’t deserve your worship: overwork, boundaryless relationships, old ambitions that have run their course, social obligations that don’t serve you, or the relentless striving towards more money and success out of fear and feelings of scarcity or shortage.

Jupiter and Neptune come into direct conjunction on the 17th and spend the rest of the month entwined with one another in Taurus. This conjunction may be disruptive as Jupiter rules expansion while Uranus rules chaos. Neither of these planets are at home in stable, predictable Taurus. This transit might unsettle the body or disrupt our sense of physical safety. But the poison is the remedy: Jupiter’s luck-bringing nature and Uranus’ trickster tendencies can help us find sneaky ways back to centre, helping us carve out more time for self-care and nourishment. Synchronicities around finding more room to rest and relax are highly likely. In other words, delays are sacred and cancellations are divine intervention. Take that time for yourself, instead.

Finally, Mars meets Neptune in Pisces on the 28th. This transit will give us one last cosmic push inwards, inviting us to find inspiration and motivation in our childhood dreams, our midnight musings, and those parts of ourselves that are most hidden. You may act in ways you don’t fully understand, and subconscious impulses may lurk closer to the surface. Aim for self-awareness at this time, but avoid self-judgement at all costs. The deepest parts of you are likely trying to show you something very important.

As the month closes out with both the Sun and Venus back in its home sign, Taurus, we’re treated to some much-needed comfort and care from the universe. Taurus season reminds us how important it is to tend to our animal bodies, our basic needs. Venus in Taurus asks us to let more beauty pour into our lives, to notice the green earth and sunlight, to take a magnifying glass to each moment and find the wonder. The sky will remain filled with convoluted energy, but as we ride these waves into May, Taurus’ influence will be like a warm bed, a glowing candle on the nightstand, always ready to welcome us in from the springtime storm, strong as a barn in a gale.
