Cosmic Forecast June 2021

June comes in on the heels of the powerful Full Moon eclipse in Sagittarius that happened on May 26th. Eclipses occur in pairs, and this event typically referred to as an Eclipse Portal, wraps up with the New Moon in Gemini on June 10th. In my experience, eclipse portals can feel very intense. The Moon is about the body and what’s happening on our emotional plane. The communication we get via the Moon is through our feelings. I find that it can be challenging to rustle up the energy to do spells and rituals that aren’t honouring my feelings during the Full and New Moons, but especially during Eclipse Portals.

If this eclipse season brings up difficult feelings like stress or fear, you might find it helpful to just sit with and process those, rather than trying to cut or clear that energy away from you through spellwork. On the Gemini-Sagittarius axis, the nervous system (Gemini) and the thighs and legs, our sense of movement (Sagittarius) are affected. Tend to your inner child, make sure that you can regulate your nerves, especially around that New Moon on the 10th. Gemini also rules the hands, so a great way to restore balance during this time is by receiving touch from others and putting your hands on your own body in a gentle, loving way. Placing your hands on your chest and stomach, for example, is a great way to create a feedback loop that allows you to acknowledge and validate your very being.

This New Moon is an excellent time to communicate with yourself about how you feel through mindfulness or journaling. It’s also a good time to communicate with others about how you feel. Speaking your truth is also a spell—attending to the parts of you that are scared is also a sacred ritual.

This month’s Gemini-centric energy continues with a lovely Mercury Retrograde in Gemini that began on May 29th and lasts until June 22nd. Mercury, of course, rules Gemini, which makes this Retrograde a little easier. Mercury is hanging out in its favourite spot for longer than it normally would, and there’s excitement and possibility in that.

This Mercury Retrograde might bring you back to what brought you joy in childhood and help you communicate from a more honest (maybe a little bratty) place. Kids don’t hide it when they are uncomfortable, and part of growing up is learning how to self-regulate. But there’s a difference between self-regulation and shutting yourself down. Pay attention to when you really want to throw a temper tantrum. Go ahead and lock yourself in your room and just have one.

A notable transit is happening with Saturn Square (at a right angle to) Uranus on June 14th—creating a breaking point where structure (Saturn) and revolution (Uranus) go head-to-head. It will be interesting to see if any significant progress or change will occur regarding world events concerning law, order, rules, and authority. With so much Mercurial energy surrounding this transit, there might be new truths revealed, and more diverse voices will speak out about lesser-known issues.

Additionally, Jupiter moved into Pisces on May 13th but, because it’s going Retrograde on June 20th, it will return to Aquarius at the end of July.

In Pisces, Jupiter asks us to dream bigger for the planet and to really touch into how we are connected through the cosmos. It’s a good time to listen or read some Carl Sagan and reflect on the mystery of existence, the small plot of “self” we’re given in our lifetimes, sparkling briefly against the backdrop of infinity. We’re not separate from anything. We exist in a soup of energy and matter. Learning more about how trees talk to each other and getting to know your bioregion are also great ways to surf the wave of Jupiter oscillating between Pisces and Aquarius––the archetype that possesses the energy of engaging intellectually with one’s community and discovering radical new ideas about how to reshape the future.

The month wraps up with the Sun moving into Cancer on June 20th, and there’s a Full Moon in Capricorn on the 24th. This transition will likely feel like landing after a long flight or returning home after living out of a suitcase. The chaotic energy of the Eclipse Portal and Mercury Retrograde will subside, and we’ll all be able to move through the world with a sense of safety and security. It’ll be easier to keep your routines, take things slow, and you’ll experience more consistency in your daily activities and emotional realm.
