A Mixed Playlist Inspired By: Les Ramsay

Artwork: Les Ramsay, Blue Fog Whistle, 2016 (oil and beach sand on linen, 62”x48”)

When I look at Les Ramsay’s Blue Fog Whistle, I think of passing cars, maybe a little rain on the window, and the lingering light from street-lamps. I also think about UFOs and portals to another dimension and the solitude of a good book. What a master of strange (and yet familiar) combinations, he is. There is something moody about Blue Fog Whistle, but still in good humour. You could consider blue to be the colour of melancholy, loneliness, or cold feeling; you could also consider it to be the colour of quietude, calm, and emotional depth. Whichever mood strikes you, I suppose! Perhaps your chosen attitude will be reflected by a song on this month’s mix. It was a collaborative effort between Les and I—we hope you enjoy!

Love,
