Kayan Hamadeh: The Earth & Water Collection

My name is Kayan Hamadeh, I am a self-taught fine artist from Vancouver, BC working in mostly oil paintings. I am primarily known for my landscapes and scenic work. My work takes something as simple as a calming, airy colour palette, a private moment or a peaceful scene to satisfy our senses and remind us to slow down, take a deep breath and appreciate those sneaky moments of peace in what is otherwise a busy life.

This collection of paintings explores the romance between two vast and complex elements: Earth and Water. From the way the light dances off the ever changing wave patterns to the dusty shades of beige that are found on land and the reflection of the sun and the moon on various wet and dry natural surfaces, these two intimate yet distant elements collaborate in harmony, generously gifting us with beauty and clarity.

I created this collection during the pandemic, at a time when everyone was -- and still is -- cooped up at home, longing for much needed vacations. This collection is a love letter to my happy places and past travels. Now, more than ever, I want my paintings to spark a feeling of sweet escape and serve as a vision board for life post pandemic.
