/CATCH UBC’S SLOW FASHION SHOW THIS THURSDAY, MARCH 12. IMAGE COURTESY OF UBC.
Last week, I found myself purchasing the unthinkable: a pair of low-rise jeans. And not just any low-rise jeans, a vintage, bedazzled, way-too-long-for-me pair that rivalled my mom’s Y2K Rock & Republics. As someone who has been in the high-rise jean chokehold since middle school, I thought this day would never come.
I took this experience as a stark reminder that fashion is cyclical. It’s easy to fall victim to the micro trend, but if you’re going to indulge, at least try to find it secondhand. I found my new jeans at a vintage store, leaving my conscience clear, my wallet relatively intact, and my abdomen free from compression. Keep reading to find your own slow fashion inspiration, and don't forget to subscribe to the Mood Swing newsletter to get the full list straight to your inbox every Thursday!
