Mood Swing on a Tuesday? Unheard of! That’s right, folks. After almost a year, I’ve decided to switch things up and share my list of Vancouver’s hottest arts and culture events a couple of days earlier, so you have more time to plan your week.  

Speaking of this week, it may be rainy now, but the weather forecast is predicting a scorcher of a weekend. If you’re looking for a break from the beach, here are some other activities sure to get your creative juices flowing … wait, is that phrase actually kind of gross? AAPI MARKET & DANCE PARTY ☆ AAPI Month may be behind us, but that doesn’t mean you can’t celebrate Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders all year round. Check out the AAPI market and dance party this Thursday, June 11, at the Cobalt. Come early for the market, tarot readings, and mahjong, or swing by after 9 p.m. and groove to beats from some of the city’s best AAPI DJs.

CAN I TAKE THIS TO GO? ART SHOW ☆ Curated by Kei Yan Hui with work by local artist Jingyi Guo, Can I Take This to Go? uses photography, textiles, texts, and other mediums to explore 15 years of the artist’s life in Vancouver. Be first to see the exhibition at the opening reception on Friday, June 12, at August Studios or catch the show before it closes June 21.

COMEDY SHOW FOR SINGLES ☆ Whether you’re looking to laugh or looking for love, check out Meet Cuties this Friday, June 12, at Chill x Studio. The monthly comedy show features live blind dates between four comedians and lucky audience members. The best part? Singles can snag a ticket for just $11!

BIBINKA DRAG SHOW ☆ What better way to celebrate 128 years of freedom from Spanish colonial rule than with a drag show? In honour of Philippine Independence Day, local drag icon Bongganisa is hosting an epic night of drag and dancing this Friday, June 12, at the Birdhouse. Featuring a lineup of sickening Filipino performers and DJs, Bibingka is sure to leave you hungry for more.
